How can the users set the printer?

1. Open the paper roll cover by pressing the cover open button and put the paper roll
2. Closed the cover and cut the paper what is out
3. Connect the interface cable to the printer and PC
4. Connect the AC Adapter to the printer and then insert a plug in an outlet
5. Connect the Cash drawer connector if you use the Cash drawer
6. Assemble the Cable cover
7. Turn on the printer power switch

The way to Install or Replace the Paper Roll

Be sure to use paper rolls that meet the specifications. Do not use paper rolls that have the paper glued to the core because the printer cannot detect the paper end correctly.

1. Make sure that the printer is not receiving data; otherwise, data may be lost
2. Open the paper roll cover by pressing the cover-open button.

* Do not open the print cover while the printer is operating. This may damage the printer.

3. Remove the used paper roll core if there is one
4. Instert the paper roll as shown

5. Be sure to note the correct direction that the paper comes off the roll

6. Pull out a small amount of paper, as shown. Then close the cover

* When closing the cover, press the center of printer cover firmly to prevent

paper miss-loading.

7. Tear off the paper as shown.

How can the users install the wall mount?

1) Turn the Set over and attach the Bracket hanger to the Frame base then tighten four screws.

2) Attach the Bracket mount to the wall firmly with the eight screws. Be sure that the Bracket attached properly to match the direction of arrow as shown. And the Bracket mount should be always fixed vertically.

3) Insert the Bracket hanger of Set to the Bracket mount.

Windows driver does not install well. What’s wrong ?

Check if there is old Windows driver already. It may conflict between old one and new one. Uninstall the old one by using ‘Add / Delete program ‘ or ‘Uninstaller’ and install the new one again. Rebooting PC is highly recommended at installation or removal.

OPOS Driver Installation

BIXOLON SAMSUNG OPOS DRIVER Installer is included pure OPOS Drivers (Control Object, Service Object) and ‘OPOS Setup Utility’ Program. But this manual, sample source are not included the installer. There are exist another folder.

1) Run ”BIXOLON SAMSUNG OPOS Driver ver x.x.x.exe”

2) “Welcome” dialog displayed

2) “Welcome” dialog displayed

3) “Start Copying Files” dialog is displayed

4) “Install Type” dialog is displayed. “Choose Installation Destination” dialog box is displayed.

The default directory is

“C:\Program Files\OPOS\BIXOLON SAMSUNG OPOS\

How can the users clean the printer?

Paper dust inside the printer may lower the print quality. In this case clean the printer as follows.

1. Open the printer cover and remove the paper if exists.

2. Clean the print head with a cotton swab moistened with
    alcohol solvent.

3. Clean the platen roller and paper end sensor with cotton swab
   moistened with water.

4. Insert a paper roll and close the printer cover

   The remained amount of paper detected by paper near end
   sensor varies with the diameter of the paper core.

To adjust the remained amount, contact your dealer.

what is the solution to solve a problem with Paper jam?

If the paper jam occur, the buzzer will beep. If the cover-open can be opened, open the cover-open and remove the paper. If the cover-open can not be opened, follow the below.

1. Open the auto cutter cover with power ON.

2. Then turn the knob clockwise with a coin or similar tool until the buzzer beep stops.

3. Close the auto cutter cover.

4. Pull up the roll paper cover by hand.

What is the near-end sensor?

This can give you a warning when the paper is almost out. If you find that there is not enough paper remaining on the roll when the near-end sensor is triggered, you can change the near-end sensor setting. Rotate the near end sensor tab at front or rear position. (See the below figure)

SRP-350 stops suddenly at the middle of print. Sometimes the data breaks down too. I’ve checked all but nothing wrong.

A 1. Cause

We can assume it might be Noise effect. Noise can be generated by other devices and it remains inside the system if the closed loop has been formatted. A noise moves one to another thru interface cable or power cable. Normally it corrupts the data or attack the printer. It results in a lot of abnormal conditions.

A 2. Description

Get the ferrite core and install it around the interface cable. It reduces the amount of Noise. Samsung power cable and power supply have anti-Noise measure enough and they are rather safer than interface cable. Since manufacturer doesn’t supply interface cable it might be local one without anti-Noise consideration.

Normally Parallel is vulnerable than serial against Noise.

What is the Self-Test and How can I do it?

The self test let you know if your printer is operating properly. It checks the printing quality, ROM version, DIP Switch settings, memory switch settings and statistic data.

The test is independent of any other equipment or software, so it is a good idea to run it when you first set up the printer or if you have any trouble. If the self test works correctly, the problem is in the other equipment or the software, not the printer.

• Running the self test

1) Make sure the printer is turned off and the printer cover is closed properly.

2) While holding down the FEED button, turn on the printer and continue to hold until the paper begins to feed. The self test prints the printer DIP Switch settings and memory switch settings. And cuts the paper and pauses. (The power light blinks.)

3) Press the FEED button to continue printing the statistic data.

4) Press the FEED button to continue printing the rolling ASCII pattern.

5) The self test mode terminates after printing the rolling ASCII pattern automatically.

What is the Hexa dump?

This feature allows experienced users to see exactly what data is coming to the printer.

This can be useful in finding software problems. When you turn on the hexadecimal dump function, the printer prints all commands and data in hexadecimal format along with a guide section to help you find specific commands.

To use the hexadecimal dump function, follow these steps.

1. After you make sure that the printer is off, open the cover.

2. Turn on the printer, while holding down the FEED button.

3. Close the cover, then the printer enters the hexadecimal dump mode.

4. Run any software program that sends data to the printer. The printer will print all the codes it receives in a two-column format. The first column contains the hexadecimal codes and the second column gives the ASCII characters that corresponds to the codes.



5. When the printing finishes, turn off the printer.

6. Turn on the printer and then the hexadecimal mode is off.

What is the Dip switch for?

DIP switches allows you to change communication settings, such as handshaking and parity check, as well as print density.

What is the difference and which kinds of Device Driver does the SRP-350 has?

1. Windows Driver : It's a Driver being used for Windows OS and supports one-way communication
2. OPOS Driver : It's a also Driver being used for  Windows OS and supports two-way communications
3. JPOS Driver: It's a Driver for JAVA
4. Linux Driver : It's a Driver for Linux OS

How to use ‘ALL_DN’ UTILITY?

Refer to the manual provided separately. Have firmware and download utility in a folder before start downloading process.

1. Check the interface connection.

2. Check if the port you are going to use is being occupied by
   others and change the port if so. It must be free Serial port.

3. Turn off the printer.

4. Set the 3^rd bank of SW 2 to On.

5. Turn on the printer while holding down FEED button.
    Then three LED become on and buzzer beeps.

6. Choose the port (Serial port only recommended) and
    write 1 for Com 1, 2 for Com 2. Enter.

7. Write firmware name that you have and enter.

8. Set “40” for delay setting and enter.

9. Wait until you hear beep sound.

10. Set the dip switch setting back on to the original.

11. Restore the printer.

12. Check the new firmware version at self-test.

What is the printer font ?

It is the built-in fonts in the printer for optimizing the print speed. Normally it is called ‘Printer fonts’ and It has 2 different types in size. That is Font A and Font B. These fonts can be simply selected at Word pad. The others than ‘Printer fonts’ are all printed in graphic mode and it is one of the main reason slowing down the print speed.

How to print the saved logo?

The logo saved in the printer by utility or ESC command can be printed as below.

1. ESC command

* n is the number of the NV bit image (defined using the FS q command)
* m specifies the bit image mode

2. Windows driver

Write the command as in the example format at BeginDoc or EndDoc, Additional commands, property, driver. BeginDoc enables logo at the header and EndDoc have logo at the foot of the receipt.

Driver has been installed successfully but test print doesn’t work.

A 1. Cause

Coordinate the setting in Serial connection. Otherwise check the specifications of interface cable whether it is compatible with the manufacturer recommendations.

A 2. Description

1. Serial connection

i.Check the connection of RS-232c Connector &
     other side.

ii.Check the I/C Cable whether it is open & short.

iii.Check the Txd/Rxd pin on cpu

iv.Check the Max232 Driver chip & related circuit on I/F
      PBA(burnt?)

v.Check whether signal is affected by the Cable Noise.

vi.Check the connection of the H/W handshaking Line
      & Other side(DTR/DSR)

2. Parallel connection

Check the BIOS mode of PC and Operating system
   before contacting H.Q. (Win98SE, WinXP home
   edition / rofessional) It is recommended to check
   also that it isunidirectional or bidirectional mode as
   well as Windows driver type.

   i.Check the 1284 Cable whether it is open or short.

    ii.Check the related Circuit and Pattern on I/F PBA

    iii.Check Interface Version Ver.1 or Ver.2

   Difference point( Ver1.->c27:10nF RA:5.1Kohm /
        Ver.2->c27 6.8nF RA:10kohm)

iv.Check parallel cable shield?

3. USB connection (USB port doesn’t work)

SRP-350 V. 1 uses SSUSB port(Samsung USB) while V. 2 does MSUSB port (Microsoft). SSUSB requires separate driver ; Driver version V21005. Logo download utility is different for V. 1. It must be ‘BmpLogo.exe’ (Ver1.0) for V. 1.

MSUSB doesn’t need a special program to use the port. When it is connected it becomes available automatically by ‘Device manager’. SRP-350 V.2 needs Windows driver, V3.0.3E and logo download utility, V2.2

USB port does not open, ‘Output error’ shows up or it stops. Then check whether it is SSUSB or MSUSB and contact sales representative for trouble shooting.

The guillotine cutting of the paper is very back in comparison with a manual cut. Why? Is it possible to print with driver without cutting?

The cutting position of auto cutter is different from the manual cutter. Not to use the auto cutter.

1. If you use the SRP-350 Windows driver,

1) Start button > Printer & Fax > Samsung SRP-350 > Click the right button of the mouse

2) Properties > Additional command > EndDoc uncheck “Cut”

3) Click “Apply” and “OK”

2. If you don’t use Windows driver, you need to remove the cutting commend from your application program.

CF) To use the auto cutter,

1) Windows driver : Download the driver from our web site at the first.

After instillation, Start menu > Printer & Fax > BIXOLON Samsung SRP-350 > Click the right button of the additional commend > Check “Cut receipt[partial]” at EndDOC section.

2) Command

The commend to generate the cutter is

ASCII : ESC m

Hex : 1B 6D

To add this command to your application program, please contact your software people.

I need to install USB driver for Windows 2000. How can I do?

If you already download our driver of the SRP-350 and insert the USB interface card, the USB installing wizard will be appeared. Then just cancel it and go to the printer port. Then go to the SRP-350 driver and click it with right side of mouse button. And go to the properties of it and then you can find the USB001 or USB 002 in the printer port. Then select it and test the printer again.

I want to control cash drawer and printer font in Visual Basic or C language, how to program ?

You need to send the specific ESC commands to control Printer font or Cash drawer. OPOS Driver has a function which takes use of these ESC commands simply. Call the below function and it helps you use those features. It is as below.

--> The driver transforms it to ESC command and send to the printer.

CashDrawer Open

OpenDrawer () = Call a fuction

I wish to reduce the space at the top of receipt. Is there any solution ?

The space at the top or foot of receipt can be adjusted by Windows driver. You can select feeding and cutting, logo printing by utilizing ‘Additional Commands’ of driver property. BeginDoc is for the logo or feeding at header and EndDoc is for the logo or feeding at foot.



A space from the cutting position and starting position is the distance between auto cutter and TPH / Impact head / inkjet head. It is mechanically hard to reduce. Back feeding may reduce it but also it can be a reason of paper jam though.

The code sequence of cutting and paper feeding.

Auto cutting and paper feeding can be controlled by Windows driver and commands. Sample program is available with Windows / OPOS driver too. Refer to the manual for more information.

How do I execute cutting at Generic driver ?

Edit and write cutting command at Begin print job or End print job of Printer command tap at driver property. Command is <1D><56><42><00>

The printer lost data from time to time. what is the reason?

It is not a simple answer. Some of such occasions have been reported but normally quite hard to find out the direct cause because normally printer manufacturer does not get the full information from the host or application supplier in such case. The temporary assumption on this situation is that when the printer changes to error mode at cover open, buffer full the communication with application program corrupts sometimes. For example the different delay time or response time among them have unmatched by accident and it cause the loss of data.

To have this problem investigated closely the printer manufacturer and host / application supplier must share the information equally but normally it hardly happens. Therefore it is quite important to supply the necessary information and Host / application to the printer manufacturer for a close inspection and test when it occurs. Contact the sales representative at occasion.

Logo download utility doesn’t work at all in NT based Windows. Why ?

Unlikely Windows driver utility program can not work thru a port when this is being occupied by other application or device. When you use utility program in NT based Windows such as Win NT / 2000 / XP the port must be free from other applications or device. Win 98 has no such a limit and it is because of different Windows technology.

Therefore first check if the port is being used by other device and set it free. Or it might be one of the following conditions if the port is free already.

1. The wrong setting of communication (Port number, Baud rate)

2. When the port is being occupied by Windows driver.

3. A chip on PC Port is defective.

After installation of the printer, it prints garbage characters when the PC sends the data. How can I do?

If you are using the Serial communication, you have to adjust the data transmission speed between the PC and printer. It happens when the transmission speed is set with a different value.
Please check it for the printer at the first and find it from the Windows or utility that you are using.

* For use of USB port at window 9x system, prerequisite to install USBPrint.inf. The file is located in BIXOLON SAMSUNG OPOS Driver setup folder. After install the file, you can use USB port. If you have some issues, contact the manufacturer.
